In the Joker Star Cluster, which consists of four stars—East, West, South, and North—there exists a fifth element: a massive comet called Stant that passes through the region every 1,500 years, accompanied by its own orbiting planets. Long ago, the Farus Di Kanon Empire, known as the "Super Empire," held dominion over all four solar systems within the Joker Cluster. Its society possessed technology far beyond modern capabilities, and its explorers traveled throughout the Joker Galaxy. Around 9000 AD (Ammon Duul), however, internal conflict caused the empire's collapse. Explorers were recalled, and the remaining population focused solely on survival. By the time the royal houses of Amaterasu, Fillmore, and Hathuha gathered to establish the JC era, much technological and scholarly knowledge had been lost. JC, short for "Joker Calendar," was created to unite all nations under a common timeline and promote lasting peace, though that dream of peace remained unrealized. The first story of The Five Star Stories begins in JC 2988. Space travel is now routine, and genetically modified fatimas serve as essential co-pilots for the powerful mortar headds that dominate battlefields. Conflict between states is constant, and peace remains a distant prospect for most.
