In a remote northern area, there is Hell's Gate—a portal that once allowed the Demon Lord to invade the human world. The legendary hero Shion Bladearts, wielding Excalibur, sealed it with the help of his loyal companions, ending the demonic menace. But the seal was imperfect and has started to weaken, letting demons launch fresh attacks. Worried about his village, the self-centered and perverted farmer Touka Scott sets up traps to defend against the invaders. Relief is expected when Shion returns to reseal Hell's Gate and protect humanity. Unfortunately, the famed hero meets his end, killed by one of Touka's own traps. Luckily, the necromancer Anri Haynesworth specializes in dealing with the dead. She cannot revive Shion, but she transplants Touka's spirit into Shion's decaying body, forcing him to take Shion's place for their critical mission. Determined not to be left behind, Touka's childhood friend Yuna Yunis joins them. This unlikely trio sets out on a quest to save the world—perhaps the most mismatched party ever assembled for such an enormous task.
