In the world of Campione, a Godslayer holds supreme authority, capable of harnessing divine powers after killing a celestial being. These individuals are considered lords, far surpassing all other humans due to their ability to slay deities. They are also viewed as devils, as no mortal can compete with their strength. Kusanagi Godou, a 16-year-old former catcher and fourth batter in the senior league during junior high, had his baseball career cut short by an injury. During the spring break of his final junior high year, Godou found himself embroiled in an unexpected adventure where he inadvertently slew one of the Heretic Gods, Verethragna. This act made him the youngest and seventh Campione. With this new identity as a godslayer, Godou now faces the challenge of dealing with troublesome gods, relying on the support of his followers.
