In modern Japan, this intense narrative follows an amnesiac protagonist who discovers he was transformed into a super-cyborg as part of a corporate weapons development initiative. Driven by a thirst for revenge, the story presents a solid yet somewhat superficial example of shounen science fiction and action manga. The series came to a sudden halt when its publishing magazine shifted its target readership, deeming Xenon incompatible with the publication's new direction.

Background

Juuki Kouhei Xenon was published in English as Xenon : Heavy Metal Warrior by VIZ Media from 1992 to 1993, with a reissue of all four volumes in 2002. Before this, it had been published biweekly in comic book format by Eclipse Comics together with VIZ comics, with a total of 23 issues published between December 1987 and November 1988.
