Takeshi Oomura has endured a lifetime of relentless misfortune, with bad luck plaguing him since childhood. One fateful day, during yet another unlucky episode, he encounters an angel named Elle, who reveals that his father placed a curse of misfortune upon him. Elle offers Takeshi the chance to transfer the curse to someone else, but he chooses to keep it instead, using it to help save a young girl. In recognition of his selfless act, Elle takes on human form and moves in with Takeshi to shield him from the worst of the curse—a living arrangement that does not sit well with Takeshi.
