This manga is a condensed adaptation of the UFO Robot Grendizer anime series, released alongside the animated version. It follows Duke Fleed, prince of Planet Fleed, who works undercover as a farmer named Daisuke while battling the Vegan Empire—the destroyers of his home planet and the creators of the mecha Grendizer, which Duke now uses against them. Though not originally linked to the Mazinger franchise, characters like Koji Kabuto and several Mazinger mechas appear in this manga, incorporating it into the Mazinger universe as a kind of sequel. Grendizer introduced the concept of a transformable robot and space-based mecha, ideas later used by many subsequent mecha series. The manga achieved immense popularity in Japan, Canada, France, Italy, and the Middle East, and still has a dedicated fanbase in those regions.
