In Tokyo's urban environment, Tada Banri starts attending a private law school. While looking for the freshman orientation, he meets another disoriented first-year student, Yanagisawa Mitsuo. They quickly become friends and make it to the event just as it begins. Out of nowhere, a striking girl with a bouquet of roses appears. She unexpectedly strikes Mitsuo with the flowers, then gives them to him and says "Congratulations, freshman," before walking away. This elegantly dressed woman, who hit Mitsuo, is none other than his childhood friend Kaga Kouko. Back when they were kids, they promised to marry and achieve their dreams together. In an effort to dodge her, Mitsuo secretly enrolled at this high-level university, but Kouko managed to pass the same entrance exam and came to the same institution.
