Hiroto Kurogane excels academically but is severely limited by his weak constitution, lacking endurance, speed, and strength. Despite his physical shortcomings, he desperately wants to become a hero. His body fails him, but he is gifted with extraordinary eyesight that lets him perceive far more than others during sports—though he cannot physically act on what he sees. When his friend Shiratori tries to recruit him for the kendo club, Hiroto learns of a ghost named Tojo Sayuri, rumored to haunt a city alley while wielding a katana. Intrigued, he visits the spot and discovers the ghost is real. Sayuri, who has spent 150 years seeking an heir to her unique Sakura sword style, chooses Hiroto after he manages to dodge her attack. Under her guidance, Hiroto must overcome his poor physical condition and master the Sakura style in order to realize his dream of becoming a hero.
