After his parents die, Mirai Kakehashi is raised by abusive relatives, which leaves him severely depressed and withdrawn. On the evening of his middle school graduation, he tries to end his own life but is rescued by Nasse, a white-haired girl who claims to be his guardian angel. She gives Mirai supernatural abilities and the chance to become the next God, assuring him that he can find happiness. To claim this role, Mirai must outlast twelve other "God Candidates" within 999 days. As the contest grows more intense, Mirai is thrown into a fierce battle royale with the other contenders, each fighting for ultimate control over the world.

Background

Platinum End was simultaneously published in English by VIZ Media and through MANGA Plus on the same day as the Japanese release. The volumes were published by VIZ Media under the Shonen Jump imprint from October 4, 2016 to March 1, 2022. The series has also been published in French by Kazé since May 25, 2016, in Spanish by Norma Editorial since March 9, 2017, and in Portuguese by Devir since May 6, 2017.
