Hitokiri

人斬り

The story is set near the end of the Edo period (around 1860) in Japan. During this era, the country was split between patriots seeking to restore the emperor to power and shogunate forces defending the Shogun as head of state. A destitute samurai, Okada Izo, is hired by the patriots to assassinate members of the shogunate, and the narrative follows his path. This manga is based on historical facts and was inspired by the film of the same name.
