As a member of the Military Police, Annie Leonhart leads what appears to be a peaceful existence within the walls. But this calm is only surface-level, weighed down by her past deeds, she feels driven by a personal mission that requires her complete focus. As the pressure mounts, her roommate Hitch Dreyse asks Annie to fulfill an old promise: look into the disappearance of Carly Stratmann, whose father runs a major trading company. Though hesitant at first, Annie agrees, hoping the investigation might offer some relief from her own internal struggles. Meanwhile, Mikasa Ackerman reflects on her past and wonders how different her childhood might have been in a world without Titans.
