Koutetsu Jeeg follows Hiroshi Shiba, a talented race car driver who suffers fatal injuries in a laboratory accident. His father, Professor Shiba, a brilliant scientist and archaeologist, is researching the ruins of the ancient Yamatai kingdom. The professor discovers a small bronze bell containing mysterious power. Shortly afterward, he is assassinated by the agents of Queen Himika of the Yamatai kingdom (also called Yamatai), because the queen desires the bell and its magic.
