A wave of inexplicable deaths has been occurring, with bodies found brutally ripped apart for no apparent cause. Then one day, matters intensify: the entire computer class Homura Kei attends—36 students—is wiped out. Because Kei was skipping class due to her delinquent habits, she becomes the only one left alive. That same evening, a hacker named Yuon appears at her door. He says he, too, lost someone to the mysterious killer, and that he possesses information Kei doesn't. It turns out someone has developed a program capable of influencing humans through the image of a blue butterfly on a computer screen, and that program is being used to murder people. Kei and Yuon must track down the person responsible, before the culprit decides to finish them off as well.
