In EX-ARM, Akira Natsume is an ordinary high school student plagued by a severe phobia of electronics. His desire to improve himself stems from his admiration for his brilliant older brother Shuuichi, a university student. His ambitions are cut short when he is struck by a truck while saving a girl from a gang. Upon waking, Akira is shocked to discover his mind has been transferred into a machine, and 16 years have passed since the accident. Confused, he learns from police officer Minami Uezono that his brain has been placed in an EX-ARM, a highly destructive weapon designed for mass devastation. Minami, along with an android named Alma, is aboard an enemy smuggler vessel on a critical mission to retrieve Akira's EX-ARM. As Akira adapts to his new existence and masters the immense power of his EX-ARM, he encounters the head of the EX-ARM Countermeasure Division, a specialized police force tasked with stopping crimes involving these machines. Gradually, Akira takes on the responsibility of halting these criminal activities, a journey that may reveal the reasons behind his extraordinary transformation.
