Raging Clouds

Amélie is a woman of remarkable intelligence, yet she's tangled up in the rigid social codes of the mid-1500s Dutch upper class. As the wife of the smooth-talking trader Hans, everyone says her place is at the hearth and kitchen. What truly sets her soul ablaze are those mornings when Hans sets out to go, where she can skulk, snacking on whatever remains, drifting alone through market squares, sinking into storybooks, testing natural philosophy.
