In Kagerou Daze, Shintarou Kisaragi is a NEET who has shut himself inside his room for two years. His daily routine shifts when a mysterious cyber girl named Ene appears on his computer screen after an anonymous email he received a year prior. Eventually, Ene manipulates Shintarou's computer, forcing him to leave his room for the first time in two years.
