Madame Soleil
マダム・ソレイユ
This dual-personality psychomystery, "Madame Soleil," occupies a unique place within my body of work. It functions as a Gaetz piece poised somewhere between entertainment and art. One could argue its central theme is the conflict against the heroine Utena Kanro's internal adversary—her desires, her dependencies, and the corrosive effects of being coddled. The story draws from personal struggles of mine, and it's a piece that weighed heavily on me throughout its creation. Madame Soleil manifests as the alternate feminine identity belonging to Sora, a male editor. Yet is that truly the whole picture? Could Sora be subsumed by something far more vast? In that light, Sora appears utterly devoid of emotion, akin to a doll confined within a glass display. Who is responsible for molding Sora into such a state? And who is the one preventing Kanro from working, systematically dismantling her?
