She has at last found the courage to love again, yet doubts whether his feelings are sincere. Gavin, scion of a wealthy resort-owning family, visits a small inn to negotiate with an elderly man over a piece of land his grandfather once lost in a wager. The unyielding old man declares his intention to hand the property over to the state at his death. When Gavin insists the land is vital to a new development project, he is presented with a startling alternative: marry the old man's granddaughter, and the land will be his.
