Set about two centuries after Mega Man Zero, Mega Man ZX depicts a world where reploids and humans coexist peacefully. The story follows Vent and Aile, two teenagers who are still dealing with the grief of losing their mothers in a Maverick attack at an amusement park ten years earlier. They now work for Giro, the owner of a delivery service called Giro Express. After Giro accepts a mysterious client’s delivery request, he goes to a remote cliffside meeting point, but Mavericks ambush him and the package disappears. Vent and Aile set out to retrieve it, eventually locating both the package and its enigmatic owner, who turns out to be the leader of the Guardians. As the pair explains what happened, another Maverick appears, launching their great adventure. Inside the package is a Biometal known as Biometal X, which bestows incredible strength and bravery upon its user. After merging with the Biometal, Vent and Aile begin protecting the city and its residents while searching for the root cause of the Maverick attacks. Later in their journey, they discover that Giro is actually Mega Man Z, a fellow Guardian.
