Daimon Kaito, a high school puzzle enthusiast, is given a mysterious mobile device by the student council president. The gadget guides him to an ancient underground ruin located beneath his school. Together with his girlfriend Nonoha, Kaito confronts a puzzle within the ruins that is rumored to be impossible to solve. They discover it is actually the dangerous "Puzzle of Sage," crafted by the malicious organization known as "POG." Although they manage to conquer the challenge, their success sparks a chain of fierce puzzle confrontations between Kaito and POG.
