In Hinomaru city, Tenjin street is an ordinary shopping district lined with various shops, watched over by a shrine atop the hill. After six years away, Yukimura Takashi returns to his hometown. On that day, his father brings him to a local merchants' meeting, where he happens to win a lottery. Unaware of why everyone is so overjoyed, Takashi soon learns he has been selected as the new leader of the shopping street community. The role of Tenjin shopping street's chief is far from honorary. The community head also serves as a medium for the gods who bring fortune to all—a deity known as Ofuku-san. Though Ten-chan (Takashi) is still reluctant about the duty thrust upon him by his family and the former chief, he does his best, alongside his childhood friends from the neighborhood.
