In a future era, Earth has lost its advanced technological knowledge due to past large-scale conflicts involving Mobile Suits. Meanwhile, the Moon's population, who yearn to return to their original home planet, wait for the right opportunity to reconnect. Once Earth reaches a technological stage similar to the Industrial Revolution, the Moon's Queen, Diana Soler, starts diplomatic talks with Earth's leaders to facilitate the Moon dwellers' return. She also sends a covert reconnaissance team to assess conditions on the planet. Rolland Seac is among this group, but shortly after arriving, he nearly drowns in a river and is rescued by twin sisters named Kiel and Sosie. He then finds employment at a mine operated by the sisters' father and gradually becomes part of Earth society. Two years later, the Moon Race grows impatient with the sluggish diplomatic progress and takes aggressive action, sparking a war. In the ensuing turmoil, the Turned 'A' Gundam emerges from the remains of the White Doll, and Rolland becomes its pilot, becoming an unexpected defender of Earth. His mission changes to stopping a full-scale conflict between the Moon and Earth.
