A girl named Katsuko, who was orphaned, gets taken in by her wealthy aunt but must endure the teasing of her impulsive cousin Kyou. Adding to that, the two of them will be going to the same school. At her new school, Katsuko encounters Komori, the arrogant president of the singing club she joins; the diligent and serious Narumi; and the captivating upperclassman Saiki. She also picks up on strange tensions. Kyou and Komori despise each other and are always trying to one-up the other. Narumi turns cold toward Katsuko, believing she is trying to charm Saeki—the person Narumi has adored since childhood. The source of the animosity between Komori and Kyou soon comes out: Kyou is actually the child of her father’s mistress, who is also Komori’s mother. Komori has always resented Kyou because upon reading her mother’s diary, she learned that Kyou holds a special place in their mother’s affections. In the end, it is Katsuko who manages to settle the feud between the two families and helps Narumi win the heart of her beloved Saeki.
