In the year A.G. 101 of the Advanced Generation calendar, a mysterious enemy called the "UE" (Unknown Enemy) strikes the space colony Angel, completely destroying it in what becomes known as "The Day the Angel Fell." This catastrophe forces humanity into a struggle for survival. Seven years later, in A.G. 108, UE targets the colony Ovan, where Flit Asuno—who survived Angel's fall—currently lives. During the attack, Flit's mother is killed, but before her death, she gives him an "AGE Device" that holds schematics for a legendary ancient weapon: the Gundam. Flit then spends years studying engineering at an Earth Federation base inside the Nora space colony, using the device's blueprints to build the Gundam AGE-1. By A.G. 115, he completes the Gundam AGE-1 Normal just as UE attacks Nora. Piloting his mobile suit, Flit helps the Federation battleship Diva evacuate the colony's inhabitants before it is destroyed. Having lost his home twice to UE, Flit joins Diva's mobile suit team as the Gundam's pilot. Using gathered intelligence and military strength, the Diva crew and their allies successfully assault UE's secret fortress in the Ambat asteroid. There, they discover that UE is actually the descendants of a failed human colonization mission to Mars—people abandoned by the Earth Federation who built their own nation, Veigan, on Mars.
