Every person in the world is granted two things at birth: the capacity to gather "Life's Light" and a "Light Vessel" for storing that gathered light. Most individuals utilize their vessels to aid in everyday activities, but rare individuals are born with a vessel that enables combat. The protagonist, Ruyu, comes across the aftermath of a battle and discovers a single survivor. Is the young boy she rescued somehow linked to the king's soldiers who entered the town with the goal of slaughtering everyone?
