The story centers on Bokeo, a not-so-bright young fellow, and his highly intelligent cat Tora, along with the various misadventures they encounter. According to Fujio Pro, Bokeo was an early version of Bakabon, and this manga marked the first occasion that Akatsuka put a dim-witted lead front and center. It's also noted that the fan following for Ichiro in Otasuke-kun set the stage for a fool character being in the spotlight.
