Originally serialized in 1963, Secret of the Linked Cities — also rendered as Requiem of Ling Sing and A Deadly Secret — is a wuxia novel by Jin Yong (Louis Cha). It first ran in the periodical Southeast Asia Weekly (東南亞周刊) and the Hong Kong newspaper Ming Pao, where it appeared under its earlier Chinese name, Su Xin Jian, before the author later retitled it Lian Cheng Jue. The plot follows Di Yun, a humble farmhand who gets booked for a crime he didn't commit and thrown into prison. While hunting for revenge after his wrongful imprisonment, he happens upon the Liancheng Swordplay manual (連城剑谱), a centuries-old tome prized not just for the martial arts it teaches, some of its pages also hide away the secret that could set anyone on the trail of a great treasure.
