In a lively Japanese city, a soft and unusual glow can be faintly seen—Kobato Hanato, a seemingly naive and innocent brunette. Though she tends to wander aimlessly, this pure-hearted girl holds one clear goal: to reach a specific place where her cherished wish can be fulfilled. To make that happen, she must heal the broken hearts of those around her and collect them inside a magical bottle. Navigating the world's challenges proves difficult for someone as innocent as Kobato. Her companion, Ioryogi, a talkative blue plush dog, often uses harsh methods to teach her basic life lessons. Fortunately for Kobato, there is a charming location with a troubled history that seems to be waiting for a glimmer of hope.

Background

After announcing an exclusive deal with CLAMP in April 2007, Newtype USA published the manga in English starting from its June 2007 issue with plans of serializing 12 installments in total. But with the publication being shut down in February 2008, only nine installments were released. The manga was published in English by Yen Press from May 18, 2010, to June 26, 2012. It was also released in French by Pika Édition from August 19, 2009, to April 4, 2012; in Spanish by Norma Editorial from October 2009 to April 2012; and in Brazilian Portuguese by Editora JBC from November 2011 to July 2012.
