In ancient Egypt under the pharaohs, the young Hatchepsout marries her half-brother Sethi, who becomes Pharaoh Toutmosis III. Though the people regard them as ideal rulers, embodying the gods themselves, Hatchepsout hides a fierce determination beneath her composed exterior. She refuses to accept the role of mere queen and instead aspires to reign as pharaoh, just as her father did. Since childhood, Hatchepsout has surpassed even Sethi in swordsmanship and archery. Determined not to let her gender limit her destiny, she launches a rebellion against the conventions of this great civilization.
