In the story, Yume employs her magical abilities to assist a variety of people she meets—such as soccer players, those who have been wrongly imprisoned, and a pair of star-crossed lovers who wish to view the moon on a cloudy night. These magical acts frequently lead to fresh escapades and occasional trouble.

Mahoutsukai ni Taisetsu na Koto was first published in English as Someday's Dreamers by Tokyopop on March 7 and June 26, 2006, respectively. The license was later picked up by VIZ Media, and the series published digitally on February 24 and March 24, 2015, respectively, under the VIZ Select imprint.
