Three centuries after the end of the Calamity War, the former powers that governed the Earth Sphere have collapsed, and new authorities have risen in a world exhausted by conflict. On Mars, growing unrest threatens to ignite another war. Mikazuki Augus works for the private security firm Chryse Guard Security (CGS), tasked with protecting Kudelia Aina Bernstein, a young activist seeking autonomy for Chryse from Earth. When the elite Gjallarhorn unit, infamous for suppressing uprisings, attacks CGS, the company's executives flee, leaving Mikazuki and his comrades behind as sacrifices to cover their escape. Orga Itsuka, the leader of the boys' team, sees this betrayal as the spark needed to start a full-scale revolt. Following Orga's orders to fight back against Gjallarhorn, Mikazuki seizes control of an obsolete mobile suit from the Calamity War era—the Gundam Barbatos—which CGS had been using as a power generator.
