In the 2008 series Mnemosyne no Musume-tachi, Rin Asogi is an immortal private investigator who enjoys vodka and endures a relentless cycle of supernatural horrors. Over the span of 65 years, her body suffers extreme violence—being pierced, blown up, and annihilated. The culprit is Apos, an eternal being determined to deliver Rin to Yggdrasil, the tree that encompasses all existence. While Rin tries to solve the mystery behind her endless torment, Apos lurks, ready to absorb Rin and all the memories she has gathered across her many lifetimes. Though Rin is familiar with the afterlife, her next journey there might be final.
