Ou no Kemono: Enpei no Arcana

In a world where Aijin—beast-like beings with extraordinary powers—are oppressed by humans due to their rarity, males are conscripted into the military while females are forced into labor. Rangetsu Ko and her twin brother Sougetsu, both Aijin, struggle to survive on their own. Tragedy strikes Rangetsu when Sougetsu’s abilities manifest, and he is taken to serve as Prince Tenyou’s beast-servant. Soon after, she hears rumors that Sougetsu was killed by the prince. Fueled by rage, Rangetsu disguises herself as a man and joins the military, eventually becoming Prince Tenyou’s new beast-servant. Though she has a chance for revenge, Prince Tenyou’s unexpected behavior makes Rangetsu question the truth behind Sougetsu’s death. Her search for the truth draws her into a dangerous political conspiracy she never anticipated. Background

Ou no Kemono: Enpei no Arcana was nominated for the 68th Shogakukan Manga Award in the shoujo category in 2022. The series has been published as The King's Beast by VIZ Media under the Shojo Beat imprint since February 2, 2021, and simulpub through VIZ Manga. The manga has also been released in German by Kazé since May 5, 2022; in Indonesian by Elex Media since November 10, 2021; and in Spanish by Distrito Manga since March 30, 2023.
