Summary
Bill Burton is a formidable Shaman from the United States, born on April 5, 1967. Although he is considered the toughest of Hao’s subordinates, he does not hold the title of the strongest among them. His massive, football-player physique serves him well in combat, though his attempts to attack the X-Laws are thwarted by their Archangels. Yoh intervenes to prevent the X-Laws from executing the defeated Bill, and in gratitude, Bill guides them the rest of the way to Patch Village. He later reappears with the intent to eliminate the Icemen team after their loss to Yoh’s group, but Horohoro steps in to protect them. When Horohoro’s father appears, Bill attempts to kill him but is repelled by the elder’s spirit ally. Just as Bill is about to deliver a finishing blow to Horohoro, Lyserg Diethel’s Archangel intervenes once more. Bill is ultimately killed by Peyote, but is eventually revived along with the rest of Hao’s followers. His spiritual power stems from the twenty-one members of his former football team, who died in a bus crash that left Bill as the sole survivor and their former captain.
