Summary
Katsuya Jounouchi is a sixteen-year-old male with a birthday on January 25, standing 178 cm tall and weighing 62 kg with blood type B. He enjoys steak, shrimp, and curry rice. Initially, Jounouchi was a bully to Yugi, but his perspective shifted after Ushio attacked him and Honda, prompting Yugi to defend them. This act made Jounouchi realize his jealousy over Yugi’s "treasure." That night, he recovered the missing Millennium Puzzle piece and delivered it to Yugi’s house, allowing Yugi to complete the puzzle and challenge Ushio to the first Shadow Game. Moved by Yugi’s kindness, Jounouchi formed a loyal friendship, becoming his own "treasure." Physically strong, Jounouchi excels at fist fighting, often overcoming opponents larger than himself, though this trait is less emphasized in the second anime. While not initially the best gamer in Domino, he grew to appreciate games through Yugi and used his strengths to support Yugi in early arcs. He later took up Duel Monsters, the popular trend of the time. Despite being unskilled at first, he trained for the Duelist Kingdom and Battle City tournaments for his sister, gradually improving until he could rival Dark Yugi. Jounouchi is selfless, caring, and considerate, showing a strong willingness to help those he loves. However, he lacks modesty and can be rash, often providing comic relief. He also has an extreme fear of ghosts, mummies, and other creepy things. Jounouchi admits that meeting Yugi gave him motivation, helping him channel his anger into games rather than violence.
