Kunieda, Aoi

Summary

Aoi Kunieda, whose name translates to State Branch's Sunflower, is a 17-year-old high school student and shrine maiden born on May 15 under the Taurus sign. Standing at 162 cm, she serves as the third leader of the Red Tails, a group known as the strongest ladies of Kantou. Her first appearance occurs in episode 7 of the anime and chapter 10 of the manga. As the daughter of a local temple keeper, she is introduced in disguise while caring for her baby brother, Kouta, who is frequently mistaken for her own child by mothers at the park. Aoi holds the nickname Queen, reflecting her role as the protector of the female students at Ishiyama High from male harassment. Her tough exterior masks a girlish crush on Oga, a fact she refuses to acknowledge, even though Oga remains oblivious to the connection between the woman he met at the park and Kunieda herself. She possesses notable physical strength, demonstrated by her ability to sense Saotome’s demon power. Unlike other delinquents, Kunieda has received formal martial arts training from her grandfather, the master of the shingetsu style. She leads the Red Tails with a focus on preventing unnecessary conflict within the school.
