Summary
Seikichi Kuroda served as the former guardian of Hekikuu High. For the majority of his high school career, he was enslaved by the previous guardian, harboring the belief that he would finally enjoy the role in his final year. However, his tenure ended abruptly after he met Kitano, forcing him to resign. Among the group, Kuroda exhibits the most delinquent-like behavior, frequently skipping classes to smoke and instigate fights. While he is often beaten up by others, including Koiso Ryoko, Takehisa, and other delinquents, he is not physically weak; he possesses a large build and a powerful punch. His constant defeats stem from mental fragility rather than physical inability, as he is easily frightened, prone to panic, and simple-minded enough to be manipulated. Kuroda desperately attempts to preserve the remnants of his dignity by acting the part of a guardian in front of Ogisu and his sempai. He also harbors an unrequited crush on Ryoko. Ooshita and Tokiyama are his two lackeys and friends, who are rarely referred to by their actual names; Koide, the class president's assistant, even called it a miracle that he managed to obtain their full names. As the story progresses, they come to understand Kuroda's weaknesses and rare strengths, yet they remain loyal to him. According to the author, Kuroda plays a pivotal role at the very beginning of the series, a period during which the author experienced writer's block.
