Volaju, Vincent

Summary

Vincent, the main antagonist of the film, is portrayed as a melancholic introvert. He served as a test subject during post-Titan War experiments and was the sole survivor among his peers, making him the only one to carry a successful vaccine. Although the government abandoned him to die on Titan, he managed to survive and return to civilization. Despite harboring deep love for Electra, his traumatic ordeal left him with amnesia, preventing him from recalling her. Driven to insanity by the virus and constant hallucinations of golden butterflies, Vincent’s goal is to unleash the pathogen globally, leaving only a small number of survivors. He serves as a stark contrast to Spike; despite their equal physical strength and similar appearances, both men view themselves as "dead" due to tragic pasts and are kept alive by their devotion to women. This archetypal parallel has led many fans to theorize that the entire movie is merely Spike’s dream, a manifestation of his guilt and the end of his life. Director Watanabe has neither confirmed nor denied this interpretation, though it is noted that Vincent’s look was inspired by Vincent Gallo and possibly Bob Dylan.
