Summary
Shiro is an enigmatic albino girl whom Ganta meets during his initial days as a prisoner. Clad solely in a form-fitting bodysuit and bulky gloves that hide her extensively scarred body, her strange appearance and odd behavior set her apart from the other inmates. Although she is Ganta's age, her speech and actions evoke the demeanor of a young child. Despite this childlike presentation, Shiro possesses supernatural physical capabilities and an intimate familiarity with the prison, having apparently spent most of her life within its walls. The narrative establishes early on that she and Ganta were close friends in their childhood, a fact that deeply upsets and irritates Shiro because Ganta has no recollection of their shared past.
