Klom, Claugh

Summary

Claugh, a young man in his early twenties with red hair, serves as a senior statesman of Roland and the trusted right-hand man to Sion. Known by the moniker “Claugh of the Crimson Finger,” he earned this title because his bare right hand is perpetually stained with the blood of his enemies on the battlefield. He played a pivotal role in assisting Sion with the revolution that overthrew the previous tyrant, Sion’s father, and currently holds the rank of Field Marshal of Roland’s army. Although he does not always agree with the difficult decisions Sion is forced to make out of necessity, his loyalty to Sion remains absolute. Claugh prefers to rely on physical strength to manage the military aspects of the nation rather than navigating the complexities of politics and policy, often expressing envy toward Miller for his ability to decline promotions and toward Luke for his capacity to undertake stealth missions. Beyond his combat skills, he is described by Froaude as highly charismatic, well-liked by both his troops and the general populace, qualities that proved essential for leading the army during turbulent times. While suppressing a rebellion in the vassal state of Estabul, Claugh saved Noa Ehn, the former princess of Estabul, from execution during Froaude’s extermination campaign against the nobility. Initially unaware of Noa’s romantic feelings for him, as well as his own, the two eventually develop a steadfast mutual love, though Claugh retains some reservations and doubts. Throughout his life, Claugh has harbored deep hatred for three specific targets: Roland’s former tyrannical king and his nobles, Miran Froaude (whose status improved slightly over time), and most severely, Tiia Rumiblue, the bearer of the Cursed Eyes known as “Īno Dwōe.” In his childhood, Tiia bit off part of Claugh’s right arm. To restore functionality, his arm was tattooed with a red magical inscription that grants him the power to instantly slice anything, including humans, into fine pieces. Confusing Tiia’s eyes with the more common Alpha Stigma due to the general public’s lack of awareness regarding other Cursed Eyes, Claugh viewed Tiia as a monster. After being easily overwhelmed and losing his right arm in a subsequent battle, Claugh sought revenge by using a forbidden curse to obtain an artificial jet-black arm, earning him the title “The Death God with a Black Hand.”
