Makoto Hanamiya is a seventeen-year-old point guard standing at 179 cm, born on January 12th. He plays for Kirisaki Daīchi High and is recognized as one of the Uncrowned Kings, having made his debut in Chapter 84 of the manga and Episode 29 of the anime. Nicknamed the "Bad Boy," he is notorious for his underhanded tactics and foul play, which were directly responsible for the knee injury suffered by Teppei in the previous year. Hanamiya exerts a strong influence over his teammates, devising sinister plans and ensuring they are executed precisely as he commands. He frequently employs dirty tactics to foul opponents out of the game, sometimes causing them to quit basketball entirely. Although he can be hypocritical about his methods, he never denies using them. His sinister nature is highlighted when he silently wished "Rest in peace" upon signaling the "execution" of Kiyoshi. Hanamiya holds a cynical view that any genius or prodigy is merely garbage once broken, believing that even the best players are worthless if his team can dismantle them. He is also known for his intolerance when things do not go according to his will.
