Summary
Sherry Belmont hails from an affluent background, residing in a grand estate with her butler, Albert, known as Jii in Japan. Despite her privileged life, she is often away traveling abroad to engage in battles against other mamodo teams. Initially, she claims to have no desire for the kingship or the conflict itself, stating that her only motivation is to liberate her former best friend, Koko, from the corrupting influence of the malevolent mamodo, Zofis. However, her perspective shifts later in the series as she develops a genuine wish to assist Brago in achieving the throne. Her childhood was marred by the overbearing and proud nature of her mother, who demanded perfection and frequently expressed disgust and disappointment whenever Sherry fell short. This toxic environment left Sherry deeply unhappy, leading her to attempt suicide by throwing herself into a turbulent river. She was rescued by Koko, who advised her that staying alive was essential to finding happiness in the future. This act of salvation forged an unbreakable bond, and the two quickly became inseparable best friends. Tragedy struck when Koko, who had suffered constant bullying due to her poverty, was targeted by Zofis. He exploited her traumatic memories, manipulating her heart to transform her into a cold, revenge-driven individual. Using her spellbook, Koko burned down the town where they had grown up, an act that occurred just as Sherry received news of Koko’s acceptance into a prestigious university. Shocked by Koko’s actions, Sherry was caught off guard by Zofis and unable to defend herself. Sherry’s life was saved once more by Brago, who agreed to train her in combat, although he harbored disdain for her weakness relative to his own strength. During a subsequent confrontation with Zofis and Koko, Zofis manipulated Sherry into believing that Koko had turned against her willingly. This deception weakened Sherry’s resolve and hindered her ability to cast spells, nearly leading to their defeat. Ultimately, Sherry’s enduring belief in her friend’s true nature allowed them to overcome the odds. After destroying Zofis’s spellbook and restoring Koko’s heart, Sherry vowed to ensure Brago became king as a token of gratitude. However, this promise remained unfulfilled, as Brago was eventually defeated by Zatch.
