Akira

Summary

Akira is the inaugural member of the Shiseiten to make an appearance in the narrative. Originally a peasant boy discovered by Kyo in a village that Kyo had utterly annihilated, Akira was the sole survivor. Despite his tender age, he refused to weep and instead stood his ground against Kyo with the intent to battle him. Impressed by this indomitable fighting spirit, Kyo took the boy under his wing, vowing to forge him into the strongest man in the world, second only to Kyo himself. He earned the moniker Soutou no Ryuu for two distinct reasons: his combat style utilizes a pair of swords known as Chisakatana, and he possesses a dual personality. One moment, he exhibits a docile, kind, and gentle demeanor, but in an instant, he transforms into a bloodthirsty killer mirroring Kyo’s own nature. Although Akira lacked the samurai or noble lineage required to unlock his full potential, he circumvented this limitation by deliberately blinding himself. This act granted him the "eye of the heart," granting him perception superior to that of those with physical sight. In a calculated scheme to infiltrate Kyo’s body, Akira temporarily allied himself with Nobunaga’s warriors by killing Ajira, Nobunaga’s servant. This act permitted him to assume Ajira’s identity. Following his betrayal of Nobunaga, Akira reunited with Kyo after receiving a lock of hair from Okuni. His signature technique, Muhyo Gehetten, encases enemies in a pillar of ice before shattering them. He also employs Hyoken Seiso, a move that traps foes within a massive hollow mountain of ice. During this attack, Akira becomes invulnerable, allowing him to either torture his victims to death or dispatch them instantly. His ultimate assault combines Inferno's Chill with Hyoma Juji Soumai. The Inferno's Chill lowers the temperature below Absolute Zero, which Akira then channels through his swords to execute Hyoma Juji Soumai, resulting in immediate death. During his confrontation with Tokito, Akira surpassed his inherent power limits by applying Inferno's Chill to his own body, enabling him to wield a new technique called "Shadow Ice of Maria." However, this power came with significant drawbacks, as it inflicted damage upon his own body.
