Summary
Serving as the class representative for 2-C, Hanai takes his responsibilities with utmost seriousness, constantly striving to keep his classmates, particularly the boys, in check. He is completely incapable of filtering his thoughts, blurring out whatever comes to mind without regard for the potential fallout. His devotion to Yakumo is so intense that it allows her to literally read his mind from a considerable distance. During his childhood, Hanai was timid, frail, and frequently targeted by bullies until Mikoto, a friend from that era, offered him support. They train together at the same dojo, where Hanai has earned a black belt in Kenpo. Although he desperately wants to join the Tea Club that Yakumo belongs to, Akira has forbidden his entry. Even though both Hanai and Mikoto have their own romantic interests, others often perceive their bond as something deeper than mere friendship. Additionally, classmates such as Yuuki appear to harbor a crush on him.
