Banpei
Summary
Designed and constructed by Skuld, Banpei is a humanoid robot originally created to guard the temple in Marller. His duties have since expanded to neutralize threats posed by demons and even to "protect" Belldandy from Keiichi Morisato. As Skuld installs new add-ons and functionalities, Banpei acquires a variety of new abilities. Initially reliant on an external cable for power, he was later equipped with a battery that enables extended travel. When his energy depletes, he must shut down and enter memory preservation mode. Banpei’s programming evolves independently, granting him sentience, an appreciation for life, and the capacity to love after meeting Sigel. Although Sigel does not reciprocate his feelings, Banpei remains undeterred, dedicating significant time and effort to winning her affection and willingly risking severe damage to assist her. His emotional circuits fluctuate from completely inactive to nearly human, though they have recently stabilized to maintain a constant state of "aliveness." Unable to naturally express emotions, Banpei sometimes uses a permanent marker to draw his feelings on his face, such as tears for sadness or furrowed brows and clenched teeth for anger.
