Summary
Precia Testarossa, occasionally rendered as Presia, serves as the primary antagonist in the Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha series, though she is absent from the Triangle Heart installments. As a powerful mage and the central figure residing within the Garden of Time, Precia dispatches her daughter, Fate Testarossa, to Earth to gather a collection of ancient and potent magical artifacts known as Lost Logia, specifically the Jewel Seeds, all while avoiding detection by the Time-Space Administration Bureau. Although she is a researcher specializing in familiars, Precia does not possess one of her own during the events of Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha, and her weapon remains unnamed. She makes her debut in episode 7, having been previously referenced as the driving force behind Fate’s mission to collect the Jewel Seeds. Precia is depicted as cruel and abusive, subjecting Fate to torture for failing to secure enough seeds or for failing to eliminate the potential threat posed by Nanoha. Despite the familiar Arf hating Precia and advising Fate that she is not worth the effort, Fate maintains that she remembers a period when her mother was kind and stable, believing that recovering the Jewel Seeds will cure her mother’s insanity. Precia resides in a gloomy hideout within the Garden of Time alongside Fate and Arf, although the latter two typically spend more time living in their apartment in Uminari City than at the hideout itself. Throughout the series, Precia remains confined to the Garden of Time and stays in a transformed state, with her original appearance only shown in flashbacks. Formerly a scientist engaged in various fields of research, including the creation of familiars, she also harbored a secret, forbidden project.
