Summary
Higuchi Yuuya is a nineteen-year-old professional hacker and detective who serves as an important figure during the HAL arc. Although he suffers from farsightedness, he typically keeps his glasses perched on his forehead, only putting them on when working at a computer. His backstory is marked by deep guilt, as he blames himself for the suicides of his parents after using his hacking abilities to disable the online video game they were addicted to. During the HAL arc, Yuuya was infected with the Electronic Drug to become one of HAL’s guardians, but the process was only half-completed because he was wearing glasses with specially made polarized lenses that offered some protection. Following the events of the arc, he was subjected to anti-virus treatments that forced him to relearn politeness. Despite these measures, he retained the knowledge of how to synthesize the Electronic Drug and comically administered it to an overbearing supervisor. When this was discovered, he was forced to undergo a second, more lengthy anti-virus session to erase that specific knowledge from his memory.
