Proto stands as the sole bioroid within Section 9, initially serving as the maintenance technician for the Tachikoma units before transitioning into a new recruit role. During the Dejima crisis, he proved instrumental in aiding Aramaki’s mission to rescue Prime Minister Yoko Kayabuki, who had been stripped of her position and detained on treason charges. By penetrating the net, Proto established communication with Section 9’s Tachikoma units, utilizing them to acquire building blueprints, real-time updates on the Dejima operation, and the Prime Minister’s location before an attack barrier temporarily disabled him. He later reappears in the Ghost in the Shell: S.A.C. Solid State Society movie, where he maintains a close working relationship with Aramaki, performing secretarial duties.
