Summary
Eringi are mushroom-like creatures that move in groups while hunting for food, specifically targeting thermally unstable materials. Their diet ranges from small items like radios and bullets to massive objects such as nuclear warheads, as depicted in episode 12. Evidence suggests the Eringi might be an artificial species engineered to neutralize unstable energy sources, such as weapons, by consuming them. The most prominent individual classified as an Eringi is Nuko, whom Chito and Yuuri encounter in episode 10. The name "Eringi" is derived from a type of mushroom, and these beings possess the ability to float through unknown means. Their presence was foreshadowed by numerous stone statues of them found in various neighborhoods of the City, including within a temple complex. It remains a mystery who constructed these monuments and for what purpose.
