Summary
Kosuke Maruboshi, a genin of Konohagakure known by the nickname Ten-Thousand-Year Genin, has held his rank for over fifty years. He refuses promotion due to deep-seated guilt over a childhood mistake that resulted in the deaths of his former teammates. Despite this self-imposed limitation, he trained rigorously under the insistence of Tobirama Senju, serving under multiple Hokages from the Second to the Fifth. His long career includes fighting alongside notable figures like Jiraiya and Sakumo Hatake. Physically, he is an elderly man with gray hair tied in a short ponytail, wearing a mesh shirt beneath a brown sleeveless kimono and gray pants. He typically carries a cheerful demeanor and equips himself with a metal pan, a ladle, and a sword sheathed horizontally across his lower back. Although officially a genin, his abilities rival those of a Jōnin. He excels in taijutsu using cooking utensils, possesses sharp kenjutsu skills, and hides a blade in his prosthetic left leg. He can also combine genjutsu with swordsmanship to disorient and immobilize foes. His extensive training under the Second and Third Hokage granted him mastery over Water Release techniques like the Water Dragon Bullet Technique and the Shuriken Shadow Clone Technique. Beyond combat, he is a survival expert and skilled cook. Following the invasion by Orochimaru and Sunagakure, he was assigned to a team with Hayama Shirakumo, Tekuno Kanden, and Naruto Uzumaki to guard the village borders. He recognized Minato Namikaze’s son, acknowledging Naruto’s true lineage.
